Never, Never, Never Give Up

In my last post I mentioned that there was something else going on at Falling Leaf Cottage. For the 2 people that read this blog, you know I have been having troubles with my vegetable garden. By 'trouble' I mean NOTHING will grow. So following the advice of a wise 13 year old I know I decided to start over instead of giving up.
I took most of the soil out of the 3 beds that weren't growing anything and replaced it with very rich, fertilized soil. I went back to the garden store and bought new plants. This time I'm trying something different.
I think you can tell by the darkness soil that it looks much better than the last time.
These are new tomatoes. I lost the tag so I don't know what kind. I will have to go back to the store and buy more cages as I have run out.
I think I will try to grow some melons. This looks a like an interesting melon that I have never seen.
I am going to try squash......
.... and a new kind of pepper. I didn't get a good picture of the okra but I have planted quite a lot of it. I am hoping for some fried okra later this summer.
The most exciting news of all is the two little tomatoes that are growing in the 4th bed in the bad dirt.
Because these little green beauties are growing and may see the salad bowl I decided to not change the dirt in the 4th bed. Fingers crossed.

It never crossed my mind to give up on the garden in mid-May, but it was a lot of work to change the dirt and start over.
