Homemade Basil Pesto

I grew my herbs this year from seeds. I started them out in Mason jars.
They were easily transplanted into the raised beds where they grew like weeds.
Today I cut down several huge stalks. I needed 8 cups of basil leaves and I figured I had at least double that amount.
I didn't. It is very deceiving how much you actually have. I had a little over 8 cups and no more.
I boiled them for about 30 seconds in water.
Then I combined 8 cups of basil leaves, 2/3 cup of olive oil, 1 cup of pine nuts and a big garlic clove in the food processor and made my own basil pesto sauce. I have enjoyed this journey from the seed to the table.
